THE

MONTESSORI METHOD

Children are human beings to whom respect is due, superior to us by reason of their innocence of the greater possibilities of their future.

Dr. Maria Montessori

Montessori is scientifically and a Child-Centered educational approach based on nurturing and cultivating a child’s natural desire to learn. With a focus on individual development, all aspects of the child are taken into consideration – academically, emotionally, socially, and morally – allowing the whole personality to take shape, not just the intellect.

This method is recognised and established across the world.

This means we strive to create not only good students, but good people too. The results speak for themselves. An analysis of academic and social scores showed that Montessori students performed better on standardized tests, engaged in more positive interaction, and proved more advanced social cognition and executive control. When you choose Montessori, you give your child an exceptional education that prepares them for endless possibilities for success beyond classrooms.

The two key components of the Montessori Method are the prepared environment and the trained educator who prepares the environment as a nurturing place for the child, designed to meet the needs of self-construction.

All Montessori classes are based on three-year cycles. There are children of three age levels in each classroom: 2 ½ – 6, 6 – 9, 9 – 12, 12 – 15 and 15 – 18 year old’s.

Our Significance:

A three-hour uninterrupted work cycle gives the children an opportunity to build concentration and independent learning skills. The transition from stage to stage is based on the child’s state of readiness rather than chronological age.

Discipline in the classroom is a balance between freedom and responsibility to develop the whole child.

The atmosphere in the class is non-competitive with natural consequences instead of rewards and punishments.

The children of Montessori, in the Montessori environment, develop an acute sense of social awareness and justice and have the opportunity to cultivate values and consideration for others by working together.

The Teachers in a Montessori Environment are called ‘directors’ because they guide and facilitate children’s learning and experiences giving them the freedom to be independent, rather than teaching which cut their thinking abilities. The director’s role is to observe the child and offer presentations that follow the child’s interests and developmental needs.

Student: Teacher Ratio:

To maintain the best possibility of development assistance to our child. We are maintaining Low Student Teacher ratio.

Age between 2 ½ to 9 – 1 Teacher : 12 – 15 Children

Age between 9 to 18 – 1 Teacher : 15 – 18 Children

Benefits of Montessori:

    • Student choice of activity from within a prescribed range of options to develop their self-interest and independence.
    • Individualized lesson planning and guidance for each child since every child is unique.
    • Interconnected curriculum formation to keep the interest live within the child to engage in various subjects.
    • Uninterrupted blocks of work time, ideally three hours long to explore, experience and conceive the concept. Not like traditional school having 45 mins period whereas before conceiving the concept we are moved to another subject.
    • A constructivist or “discovery” model, in which students learn concepts from working with materials rather than by direct instruction.
    • Specialized educational materials are often made from natural, aesthetic materials such as wood, rather than plastic.
    • A thoughtfully prepared environment where materials are organized by subject area, is accessible to children, and is appropriately sized which create self-confidence and self-learning skill.
    • Freedom, within limits – Children have freedom to choose and work with materials without disturbing others which create respect others and their work.
    • A trained teacher experienced in observing a child’s characteristics, tendencies, innate talents, and abilities and guide them individually to attain their desire
